RENOVATION AND REBUILDING OF THE FOREST OPERA
With Poland joining the European Union, many emphasized the need to carry out extensive redecoration of the venue. Supported by Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Sopot authorities commissioned to prepare a modernization project based on the total replacement of: the roof structure and its cover, the audience seats, as well as building new dressing rooms and facilities next to the stage. The start of this huge investment project is due on September 2009 on the 100th anniversary of the Forest Opera. The total cost of the modernization will reach over PLN 74 m, of which 28 m has been earmarked from European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the Operational Programme “Infrastructure and Environment” and more than 46 m by the City of Sopot.
